The tour starts at Gerona airport (unfortunately the first 30 km are missing because the tracklog was turned off :( ) and ends at Montpellier Airport (both have Ryanair connections to Frankfurt Hahn). We spend about 8 days on our bikes. Close to the end we made a stop for vacation near Uzes doing nothing for a few days.
Starting at the Costa Brava the tour follows the coast until the outskirts of the Camargue, then going upcountry towards the Rhone into the valey of the Gard, to return on a northern loop to the coast.
The all the way north we had quite heavy headwind. The two of us were packed with both about 15kg of luggage including tent and cooking gear and a little too much "just in case" stuff. We made the tour beginning of september: the weather was beautiful, the landscape great, a bearable amount of tourist around.
Except for the D6009 near Signean all roads were a nice ride concerning traffic. The roads (if you want call them roads) we took from St. Gilles to Tarascon were quite an uneasy ride. The route also contains some dirt tracks at other points, so be prepared :). Overall it was a great vacation!!
